From June 13 – 16 2013 the the IV Theology of the Body International Symposium will be held in Fatima, Portugal. The first three Symposia were in Austria (2007), Ireland (2009) and London (2011). Biofides was there in London, a marvelous experience of deep insight in John Paul II’s in sight in the truth about the human body, male and female, it’s ‘language’ and meaning, the plan of God from the beginning, in history until the very end in eternity, in short: Gods plan with human sexuality and fertility.
Some have called this insight that he shared with the word during a long series of catechesis from 1979 till 1984 as the answer to the ‘sexual revolution’ of the sixties and the seventies of the 20th century. A teaching still to be discovered by many within the Catholic community, single or married, priests or religious and even bishops. A challenge also, we would say , to Christians of other churches and churchly communities and of people of other faiths or convictions because of its anthropological an philosophical power.
The venue for this IV Symposium is the Domus Carmeli, which is within walking distance of the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima. The registration website www.4tobis.pt you can see the list of distinguished experts and the wide range of highly interesting and important topics related to Theology of the Body that they will unfold for the participants of the Symposium, and videos and descriptions of are available here, places to stay, etc. There is also a section describing some of the unique connections between Our Lady of Fatima and Theology of the Body.
Biofides strongly recommends the symposium to all interested, among whom young couples, educators, physicians and clergy.
